Empire, Spartan, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Ida Red are in great abundance and easy to find in the orchard. Granny Smith, Ambrosia, Golden Russet, Gingergold, Paula Red, Tydeman Red, Orange Pippen, and Pears are pretty much all picked now. Whatever quantities of these other fruit varieties we have in storage, we are putting on display for sale in our country market store.

October 4, 2023 by Albion Orchards

This is the big weekend for pick your own apples here! People have been waiting for the chance to pick fresh Golden Delicious, Empire and all the other varieties that are just now reaching the stage of tasty, ripe and ready yumminess. We will be open for pick your own apples all three days this long weekend …

Please note the following information:

  • Our market is open from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Pick Your Own apples is from 10 am to 4:30 Please arrive by 4 pm for PYO
  • All remaining fruit varieties are available for pick your own this weekend.
  • Apples in great abundance for picking include: Spartan, Macintosh, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Empire, and Ida Red
  • Apples in lesser abundance for picking include: Northern Spy, Mutsu, Jonagold, Pink Lady, Cortland, ,
  • Apples that are either in very little abundance on the trees / nearly picked clean include Granny Smith, and Fuji
  • Apples that are completely picked out already ( But available in our market for sale) include Royal Gala, Aurora Golden Gala, Ambrosia, Golden Russet
  • There are NO REFUNDS for pick your own apples. We do not guarantee availability of any fruit type for picking. We have been very busy this year operating with the lowest level of staffing experienced in 30 years of farming. Please note that you can purchase any or all of the above fruit varieties produced here at a much lower price in our store. If you choose to enter the farm and go apple picking in our orchards, the cost is on a per-bag basis according to the number of visitors in your group, as indicated on our website. Once again, there are no refunds. Come early to avoid disappointment in selection.
  • We do not charge admission fees, however, there is no admission for any persons not paying for the minimum cost of PYO apples.
  • No backpacks are allowed
  • No extra luggage, large handbags, or carrying containers are allowed.
  • No dogs are allowed. We love animals too, but please leave Fido at home.
  • We are very proud of the fact that OUR FARM PRODUCES NO WASTE. Everything produced here on our farm can be organically composted back into the soil, enriching its productivity. No outside food and drinks are allowed. Please do not bring us your garbage to dispose of- it is not our responsibility to take ownership of the waste accumulated inside your vehicle or brought from your home. The take out food packaging you bought before you arrived here belongs to you, not us. Please do not litter. We thank you very much for helping us keep our farm looking tidy and free of waste!
  • You are welcome to bring refillable drink containers inside the PYO area. Being environmentally friendly is always appreciated, not just here but world-wide! You are welcome to consume anything purchased onsite and use our picnic tables!
  • the weather forecast is going to be unsettled. If there is an excessive amount of rain on the weekend, there is the possibility that we will be forced to shut down the apple picking. Very wet weather combined with many visitors can quickly turn our grassed landscape into a muddy swamp, especially at the entrance gate and playground areas. We would much rather postpone the apple picking for a few days than let the turf deteriorate into a soggy sticky mess in the case of severe moisture caused by rain. Our grassed parking lot area can also become unnavigable for vehicles during periods of heavy rain. We reserve the right to close off the overflow parking area and the PYO apples activity for any visitors if we feel it is in our best interest. Our business model is to stay open seasonally until Christmastime. We can only do that by preserving the turf and grassed areas from damage caused by extreme weather events and excessive vehicle / foot traffic…

Apple Picking update for Sept 17

September 17, 2023 by Albion Orchards

There are still lots of Macintosh apples for picking. Royal Galas are fast disappearing. We have had a lot of visitors here picking the delicious and sweet Gala apples. If you are coming today, plan on arriving earlier to avoid missing out on a better selection to pick from. We expect that most of our Royal Gala apples will be wiped out by the day’s end. Honey Crisp in the front portion of our orchards will also be getting very scarce. Next week will start opening further areas of our farm for picking, notably Spartan apples. There will not be any more Royal Gala picking available after today. Please also be advised there are no refunds. Apples are in our store are cheaper to buy than picking your own. Once you have entered the farm for pick your own apples there is no opportunity to ask for refunds. There is no problem being able to fill bags with fresh apples. Apple picking will run until the end of October. We will post the varieties available in the coming weeks. Hope to see you here!
