When are you open? The store is open from August 23 to December 23
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 to 6, and Saturday-Sunday from 10 to 5 Please arrive by 4pm to be admitted for Pick-Your-Own
Do you allow dogs? – We love pets but do not want to pick up after them. (There are enough things to pick here already). Please leave the dog at home; we take pride in keeping our grounds clean and sanitary for your enjoyment.
Do you charge admission? – We have never previously charged an admission fee. However, this policy changes as of September 28, 2024. Apple picking can not be free. Only those paying a nominal fee for apple picking may enter the orchards, along with a $5 charge per person for admission. Anybody can enter/shop in our market at will but only those who pay the cost of Pick-Your-Own may enter the grounds to experience the orchards, pumpkin patches, forest, nature areas, pavilion, playground, and other open spaces. If you just want to take pictures / go for a walk, or you do not want to pick apples, you are still required to pay the PYO cost in exchange for access to the grounds.
Do you allow picnics? – Sorry, we no longer allow our visitors to bring outside food or disposable beverages. Feel free to bring your favorite drinks in a reusable container to enjoy on our property. We take pride in the fact that OUR FARM PRODUCES ZERO WASTE. The only packaging required to take home fresh and healthy food grown on our farm is a bag. We will supply you with a bag if you are here to pick apples. You may bring your own bag or reusable container if it is a standard 10 or 20 lb size. Take out food containers will not be accepted. Please do not expect us to take responsibility for garbage inside your vehicle that you brought from home or another business prior to arriving.
Do you host private events? We often have group events, private parties and even large weddings. However, we are not able to accommodate special events during high season times such as the Thanksgiving weekend in October. Smaller events such as birthday parties with minimal numbers of guests are possible but excessive communications, planning and execution require time commitment costs that are usually over and above what we are able to provide while still operating without financial loss. Our primary business focus is on farming and selling fresh produce. Feel free to plan an outing here to celebrate a birthday or other milestone with a small group but please understand that we cannot devote a significant amount of time involved in the planning process on your behalf.
Why does pick your own cost more than buying apples in our store? – We require far less numbers of staff members to operate our store. Extra employees are needed to handle the large volumes of crowds that arrive yearly for apple picking. Also, there are extra costs for us that involve hosting the general public : portable toilets, added garbage (Please do not litter, and do not bring waste to us to dispose of) Careless people also can do a lot of lasting damage to our trees by breaking branches / removing fruit buds which reduces production in the coming years. A lot of this damage occurs just when kids are having fun – climbing trees may seem innocent but it definitely can harm the delicate trees that we work so hard all year long to maintain in a healthy, productive state. Some people can also be very ignorant and wasteful by dropping fruit or think its funny to throw apples. This is why most other orchards charge admission fees to enter their farms. We have thought often of closing the PYO part of our farming operation and only offering food for sale in-store just for some of the above noted reasons. But this would be sad and we are trying to continue and hope that people will be respectful of private property and realize that a lot of work goes into what you see when visiting the orchard.
